Everyday Esthetics: An Efficient Approach to Anterior Composite Restorations

Description: Everyday Esthetics: An Efficient Approach to Anterior Composite Restorations dives into the use of universal composite systems and their applications in restorative dentistry. The lecture will describe principles of smile design and how these principles can be applied to a range of cases from diastema closures, anterior-edge bonding, gross decay preparations and restorations along with class IIIs and class Vs using a universal composite system. Several case walkthroughs will be utilized to exhibit a predictable start-to-finish protocol.

Bio:

Dr. Fareed Tareen is a graduate of New York University College of Dentistry with Honors in Esthetic Dentistry. He practices in southern Ontario and is passionate about approaching restorative dentistry with a high standard of craftsmanship for his patients. Dr. Tareen believes predictable clinical protocols are fundamental in providing high quality care for his patients. His dentistry is influenced by his interests in design, art & photography. Complications in the Dental Practice -
A Panel Discussion Covering the Difficulties that we all Face.

Description: Complications affect all of us in all forms of dental practice. At times it is hard to solve dilemmas that we are faced with, without support from multiple fields of practice. This 2.5 hour discussion will look at different complications that can start when the patient first contacts our offices and sets up an appointment. Diagnostic and treatment complications are often encountered and may be difficult to predict but can always be dealt with in different ways. At times, patient management is the solution to many of our difficulties. This panel discussion will endeavor to answer attendee questions (submitted in advance) as well as bring to light some of the issues that we face on a regular basis.

 

Bio:

Dr. Izchak Barzilay received his DDS from the University of Toronto in 1983, a Certificate in Prosthodontics from the Eastman Dental Center in Rochester, NY in 1986, and MS from the University of Rochester in 1991. He is Head of the Division of Prosthodontics and Restorative Dentistry, Mt. Sinai Hospital, Toronto, Ont.; Head- Prosthodontics, Bridge to Health Medical and Dental; Adjunct Professor, Division of Prosthodontics of the Eastman Department of Dentistry, University of Rochester, Rochester, NY; Professor, George Brown College of Applied Arts and Technology, Toronto, ON; Associate in Dentistry, University of Toronto, Toronto, Ont.; Chief Examiner in Prosthodontics – Royal College of Dentists of Canada; Past - President of the Association of Prosthodontists of Canada: Past President - Ontario Study Club for Osseointegration.; Advisory Board - International Society for Digital Dentistry; Medical Advisory Board Member – Sjogren’s Society of Canada; Publication reviewer for Journal of Esthetic and Restorative Dentistry, and is in private practice limited to prosthodontics and implant dentistry in Toronto, Ont. He has published on various topics including immediate implants, bonding plastics to various metals and other material and implant related topics. Dr. Barzilay holds many fellowships in prestigious organizations and has been awarded multiple awards for his research and teaching accomplishments.

 

Dr. Effie Habsha received her Bachelor of Science degree and earned her DDS degree from the University of Toronto. Upon graduation, she completed a one year General Practice Residency at Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto, ON. Dr. Habsha received her Diploma in Prosthodontics and Master of Science degree, both from the University of Toronto. She is a Fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada (RCDC) and is an examiner and Section Head for the Oral Examination in Prosthodontics for the RCDC. Dr. Habsha is an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the Department of Dentistry, Eastman Institute for Oral Health at the University of Rochester Medical Center. She has served as an Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto and currently instructs both at the undergraduate and graduate level in Prosthodontics at U of T. Dr. Habsha is a Professor at George Brown College of Applied Arts and Technology and is the On-staff Prosthodontist at MedCan clinic in Toronto. She holds an appointment as Staff Prosthodontist at Mount Sinai Hospital where she instructs the dental residents and is involved in various clinical research projects. Dr. Habsha is an Associate Fellow of the Academy of Prosthodontics and Greater New York Academy of Prosthodontics and a Fellow of The Pierre Fauchard Academy and holds memberships in numerous Prosthodontic organizations and societies. She lectures both nationally and internationally on various Prosthodontic topics and maintains a private practice limited to Prosthodontics and Implant Dentistry in Toronto.

 

Dr. Elahe Behrooz obtained her first DDS degree in Iran and her Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the Eric Sprott School of Business, Carleton University. She obtained her second DDS degree from the University of Toronto (U of T) with honors and is a graduate of the Prosthodontic program at the U of T. She is currently involved in private practice limited to Prosthodontics and implant dentistry, is a clinical instructor at the Faculty of Dentistry, University of Toronto in the Graduate Prosthodontics department, is the chief of clinical operations of the Build Your Smile Dental Foundation (Domestic) and a clinical associate at the department of Dentistry, Mt Sinai Hospital.

 

Dr. Mahmood Abu Ruja is a clinician-scientist in the field of Prosthodontics, with over 10 years of experience as a clinician and a lecturer in Prosthodontics. He received his dental degree from The University of Jordan in 2006. He completed his MSc in Prosthodontics and Ph.D. in Dental materials at the Faculty of Dentistry, University of Toronto. Dr. Abu Ruja’s research explored topics related to dental materials, Zirconia bonding and surface treatment, and complications of dental implants. He received many national and international awards for his research. Dr. Abu Ruja is currently an instructor in Prosthodontics at the University of Toronto and maintains a private practice limited to Prosthodontics. He enjoys spending his free time with family and friends.

 

Dr. Parvaneh Bahrami obtained her Master of Science in Periodontology and Implant Surgery in 2012 from the University of Toronto.Dr. Bahrami is board-certified in Canada and USA and a Diplomat of the American Academy of Periodontology. She is a clinical instructor at the University of Toronto and practices as a periodontist and implant surgeon at Prosthodontics Associates.

 

Dr. Amir Azarpazhooh is an Associate Professor at the University of Toronto, Faculty of Dentistry, and Faculty of Medicine. He is also the Head of Endodontics at the Department of Dentistry, Mount Sinai Hospital. His research interests include relationships between evidence-based dentistry and clinical decision-making, patient-centered care, and eliciting patient preferences in clinical decision-making.

Bio:

Dr. Moemen Metwally brings a unique perspective to oral surgery and implantology. Dr. Metwally has been in private practice since 2012 and has built a career revolving around oral surgery and implantology. His daily practice is limited to implant dentistry from single implants to full mouth rehabilitation utilizing all on x treatment. Including same day loading protocols, including the use of zygomatic and pterygoid implants. He routinely takes on difficult failures that require thinking outside the box for solutions. He has placed thousands of implants over the last decade and understands the challenges that come with difficult or failing cases. His understanding of both restorative and surgery allows for a comprehensive approach. His ability to work with others as a team to treat large and complex treatments has allowed him to continue to grow his network of referrals. Dr. Metwally loves mentorship and looks forward to being a part of another colleague’s implant journey.

Bio:

Dr. Sanjukta Mohanta is a general dentist practicing in Brampton, Ontario. She graduated from the University of Waterloo in 1995 and the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Dentistry in 1999. She later became certified in adult education and was an instructor at a dental hygiene college. She currently works at a community health centre treating children and seniors on public dental programs.

Dr. Mohanta has given many presentations and has written several articles for the Ontario Dentist Journal, where she is on the Editorial Board. She is on several committees with the Ontario Dental Association (ODA) and her local dental society, Halton-Peel Dental Association, where she was president. She received the Award of Merit from the ODA and was selected to be on the Canadian Dental Association’s Future of the Profession Task Force. Dr Mohanta enjoys teaching people how to improve their oral health, mentoring colleagues, and advocating for improvements in public dental programs.
