This session teaches the general dentist everything of importance about surgical removal of impacted 3rd molars.

You will learn a practical classification that takes the confusion out of understanding the types of 

wisdom teeth in the upper and lower arches.  Each type will be described and the proper surgical procedures recommended for removal.

You will learn the proper instruments to use for surgery and the ones you should NOT use.

The Principle of Levers will be discussed as it applies to surgery.  Knowing this alone will help you become a better surgeon.

All  surgical secrets kept from you in dental school will be revealed. 


About the Instructor:

Dr. Lawrence (Larry) Gaum is an oral surgeon who maintains a private practice in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. He is a graduate of Dalhousie University Dental School in Nova Scotia, Canada. He practiced general dentistry for five years before taking his post-graduate training in Anaesthesia and Oral Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh and the Wilmington Medical Centre in Delaware. He is a former Associate Professor in Dentistry, University of Toronto, where he taught for over twenty years. He has lectured extensively throughout Canada, USA and numerous other countries, teaching his fellow dentists oral surgery, anaesthesia and pharmacology.

Aesthetics in Prosthodontics

Description:

One of the challenges of contemporary prosthodontics is not only to restore the patient’s health, comfort and function but to do so with prostheses which are aesthetically pleasing. Achieving this goal requires acquaintance with aesthetic principles, the ability to evaluate aesthetic parameters and to detect static and dynamic aesthetic deficiencies. 


Learning Objectives:

  • Review of the principles for establishment of an aesthetic smile in fixed and removable prosthodontics

  • Aesthetic evaluation and optimization of complex rehabilitations and implant-based care 

  • Prosthodontic planning for prediction and management of aesthetic challenges


About the Instructor:

Dr. Elahe Behrooz obtained her first DDS degree in Iran and her Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the Eric Sprott School of Business, Carleton University. She obtained her second DDS degree from the University of Toronto  (U of T) with honors and is a graduate of the Prosthodontic program at the U of T. She is currently involved in private practice limited to Prosthodontics and implant dentistry, is a clinical instructor at the Faculty of Dentistry, University of Toronto in the Graduate Prosthodontics department, is the chief of clinical operations of the Build Your Smile Dental Foundation (Domestic) and a clinical associate at the department of Dentistry, Mt Sinai Hospital.
