Aesthetics in Prosthodontics

Description:
One of the challenges of contemporary prosthodontics is not only to restore the patient’s health, comfort and function but to do so with prostheses which are aesthetically pleasing. Achieving this goal requires acquaintance with aesthetic principles, the ability to evaluate aesthetic parameters and to detect static and dynamic aesthetic deficiencies.
Learning Objectives:
Review of the principles for establishment of an aesthetic smile in fixed and removable prosthodontics
Aesthetic evaluation and optimization of complex rehabilitations and implant-based care
Prosthodontic planning for prediction and management of aesthetic challenges
About the Instructor:
Dr. Elahe Behrooz obtained her first DDS degree in Iran and her Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the Eric Sprott School of Business, Carleton University. She obtained her second DDS degree from the University of Toronto (U of T) with honors and is a graduate of the Prosthodontic program at the U of T. She is currently involved in private practice limited to Prosthodontics and implant dentistry, is a clinical instructor at the Faculty of Dentistry, University of Toronto in the Graduate Prosthodontics department, and a clinical associate at the department of Dentistry, Mt Sinai Hospital.

Guided implant surgery, from treatment planning to surgery and prosthesis placement

This lecture will provide an in-depth exploration of guided implant surgery, covering the entire workflow from digital treatment planning to surgical execution and final prosthesis placement. Participants will learn how to leverage digital technologies, including CBCT imaging, intraoral scanning, and CAD/CAM workflows, to enhance precision and predictability in implant placement.
Key topics include:
· Digital treatment planning and virtual implant positioning
· Design and fabrication of surgical guides
· Step-by-step guided implant placement techniques
· Immediate vs. delayed loading protocols
· Prosthetic planning and final restoration placement
Through case-based discussions and clinical insights, attendees will gain a practical understanding of how guided implant surgery improves patient outcomes, reduces complications, and streamlines the overall implant treatment process.
About the Instructor:
Dr. Majid Zakeri a graduate of the University of Toronto's prosthodontics program (MSc) and fellow of Royal College of Dentists of Canada (FRCDC). He is an educator at the University of Toronto, where he makes significant contributions to both undergraduate dental and graduate Prosthodontics programs. Dr. Zakeri's teaching approach integrates his clinical experience with academic insights, aiming to impart comprehensive knowledge and advanced clinical skills to his students and his courses participants.
Dr. Zakeri has been involved in the function of multiple humanitarian initiatives both domestically and internationally (Uganda) in Build Your Smile Foundation (BYSDF). Dr. Zakeri maintains active memberships in several prominent dental organizations, including the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario (RCDSO), Canadian Dental Association (CDA), Ontario Dental Association (ODA), Iranian Ontario Dental Association (IODA), and the American College of Prosthodontists (ACP). Through his involvement in these organizations, he continues to contribute to the advancement of dental research, education, and professional standards, demonstrating a lifelong commitment to enhancing dental healthcare and professional practice.
